David and Karen met at Chef Training School in 1981, and made Whistler home in the winter of 1982.From there went on to work in many fine restaruants in Kelowna,Whistler, New Zealand and Australia.In 1988 they started their catering business in Whistler. With a combined 50 years experience the Kays have many skills to pass on to you.
For past 18 years , David and Karen have been cooking up meals for Whistler guests and locals alike. They have catered over 100 weddings, many commercial shoots and film crews, corporate events, staff parties and private Chalet Chef for people from all over the world. In addition they have been providing many of Whistler cafes fine baked goods. As well they offer private and group cooking classes. With an array of menus to pick from vegan to decadent.
Karen and Dave believe in using fresh unprocessed food, and use fresh locally grown products and quality ingredients. All their food is made from scratch . In the Whistler Summer they grow fresh organic herbs, edible flowers and vegetables for their business. David specializes in meats and sauces, combining his European training and West Coast cooking experiences. As the winner of the BackYard Burger category of The Canadian National BBQ Championships in 2002, David has a keen sense of building flavour, into his dishes! Karen has specialized in Vegetarian cooking, and complements all of their menu's with wonderful grain and vegetable dishes. Karen became a certified Holistic Nutritional consultant in 1992 and teaches Healing food cooking classes with Harvest Cuisine. If you want to learn to cook healthier or with foods such as beans, lentils, soy, grains and seavegetables then these are the classes for you.
Karen and David also offer private or group cooking classes. Imagine you and your friends enjoying an entertaining evening and gourmet meal in the comfort of your home. Your professional Chefs for the evening, David and Karen will engage you in a hands on cooking class. Entertaining and teaching you culinary skills, then serving you a gourmet meal. You pick the menu from the array of recipes available. Wine pairing can be arranged for your personal menu.Or spend the afternoon cooking up a meal while your family is out playing and enjoy the meal with them for dinner later.
