The 2012 Whistler Longboard Festival downhill race event at Whistler Olympic Park was held on July 14 & 15. This is a fun action packed event that is open to the public and takes place each year during the warm dry weather. The competitors race down the side of Blackcomb mountain 4 at a time to compete for the prize money and glory. There are majestic power slides and crashes in the tight 180 degree corner areas as the course snakes down Blackcomb mountain. This is an excellent family friendly event where spectators walk the sides of the downhill course during the morning and afternoon. The photo below is from the downhill race event on July 14, 2012.
