The old growth forest and glacier fed lakes are a great experience during the Summer season. Madeley Lake is located at the end of the forest service road in the Callaghan Valley and is a nice Summer activity. You can drive to this lake in a 4×4 vehicle and enjoy memorable sightseeing, hiking and lunch in the old growth forest area. This rough forest service road is open from July to October during the warm months of the Summer season. There are many Black Bears in the Callaghan Valley along the paved road that comes into the area from HWY 99. This area features excellent cross country skiing during the main Winter season. The photo below is from the lookout at the edge of Madeley Lake.
