The very popular World Ski & Snowboard Festival takes place in Whistler resort each Spring season. It is a combination of Sports, Music and Arts across multiple days. There are freestyle ski and snowboard events up on the slopes of Whistler Blackcomb resort and many other events in the village. Free outdoor music concerts are also a lot of fun in the afternoon and evenings. The Spring season brings warm weather and beautiful cherry tree blossoms to the Sea To Sky Corridor. Cherry trees produce a brilliant pink flower blossom during the early Spring season each year and this event is celebrated on the Pacific Coast area in BC, Canada. In Vancouver there is an annual event called the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival which is a very popular scenic tour during the early Spring season. The Vancouver area has many cherry trees that all blossom in the early Spring season to produce a very eye catching scene. Whistler village hosts the King Of The Rail competition on Saturday nights during the Winter season. This is an excellent freestyle ski and snowboard competition that is free for the public to watch. Locals gather at 7 PM to participate in the casual competition to win the prize money and glory. Large crowds from the general public enjoy the competition and cheer for their favorite athletes. This is a family friendly event that takes place during the Winter season and is presented by Whistler Blackcomb resort. Whistler mountain is set to open early on November 17, 2012 for skiing and snowboarding. Great snow conditions and lots of elevation allow for Whistler mountain to open this early during the Winter season. The note below is from Whistler Blackcomb media. “Thanks to cool temperatures, impressive snowmaking and natural snowfall Whistler Mountain will open five days early on Saturday, November 17. With five lifts running, guests will have the option to upload from either the Whistler Village Gondola or the Creekside Gondola. Blackcomb Mountain will open, as scheduled, on American Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 22, 2012. Opening day festivities include the Wonder-Full Gondolas event – gifts for the first 1500 guests!”
