Whistler Winter Activities

With its crisp alpine air and breathtaking vistas, Whistler is a perfect mountain escape and a veritable winter wonderland. Starting mid-November until the end of June, two of Whistler's most famous, lift-accessed mountains -- Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain -- offer downhill skiing, snowboarding, telemarking and snowblading. On the remaining mountains, heli-skiing and boarding are available for intermediate and advanced skiers to enjoy with their Whistler ski vacation. Visitors also can stay close to the valley floor from December to April and take advantage of the Lost Lake cross-country skiing trails, scenic backcountry snowmobile tours, horse-drawn sleigh rides and dogsled excursions. Helicopter tours and Snowcat tours take intrepid types to the best spots for ice-climbing, secret powder runs and postcard-worthy Whistler ski vacation photo-ops.

Whistler Summer Activities

Although Whistler's snowy winter scenes seem to grace most postcards, the warmer months attract thousands of visitors eager to hike, mountain bike, fish and golf in an idyllic mountain setting. As in winter, summer action revolves around Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains - from summer skiing on Horstman Glacier, to mountain biking on a number of rugged trails, to fly fishiing in remote lakes. Golf Digest ranks Whistler as the top golf destination in Canada, thanks to it's four award-winning and breathtakingly scenic championship courses carved into the side of the mountains by famous designers.

For high-octane thrills, there are a number of "Adventure Tour" operators in Whistler, providing zipline eco-tours, rock climbing, horseback riding and backcountry ATV excursions. Serious adrenaline junkies can try their luck at bungee jumping and paintball or head to Blackcomb Mountain Adventure Zone's flying trapeze, luge coaster, bungee trampolines and human gyroscope. For slower-paced pleasures, Whistler's parks and lakes offer endless opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, windsailing and picknicking. Anglers flock to Whistler from all over the world to soak in its uncrowded beauty while casting from spring to summer and reeling in runs of salmon, cutthroat and dolly vardens.
